Dell has put on sale XPS 13 Ultrabook Developer Edition with Ubuntu 12.04, in a setting much more powerful and expensive than expected; in this case we are talking about Dell XPS 13 Ubuntu.

Dell XPS 13 Ubuntu has surpassed even the portable versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8; although to be accurate (and fair) the configuration chosen for this model with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and qualified by Dell as “ultimate developer notebook”, is the offered more potent on the XPS 13.
Thus, while the XPS 13 with Windows is devoted to consumption and offers versions from 799-1499 dollars, the model with Dell XPS 13 Ubuntu is dedicated to developers and a more professional public reference price $ 1,549.
Again, no exact configuration equivalent to that of Windows and in all cases more potent than this. And is that commercial Linux version has improved a lot since the test version of the Sputnik project, with a base consisting of a third-generation processor Ivy Bridge Core i7-3667U with 4 MB of cache and frequency of 3.2 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L memory 1600 MHz and SSD of 256 GB.
Dell XPS 13 Ubuntu screen is 13.3 inches and familiar with 720p resolution, with an aluminium and magnesium chassis, wide connectivity and lithium polymer battery for 6 hours of battery life.
The XPS 13 with Ubuntu 12.04 Developer Edition is now available in the Dell website and do not know if the company will market a cheaper version that’s closer to the consumer. And is that with respect to Linux there seems to be average, or the few manufacturers that offer it do on computers too basic or as the Dell, a real great team but is not available for everyone.
