Epson Premium XP-600 printer with WiFi: Complete Review & Specs

Epson Premium XP-600 comes with its Wi-Fi connectivity due to which you can print photos from a smartphone or a tablet in a easy way.

The promise

Epson Premium XP-600

With the Epson Premium XP-600, Epson offers a multifunction printer which has both excellent connectivity and a good level of equipment while adopting a more compact format than usual. In addition, it is supposed to provide good print speeds and high quality. Its printing system operates on five ink cartridges (black text, photo black, cyan, magenta and yellow).

Reality

If this Epson Premium XP-600 is compared to the previous generation multifunction Stylus Photo PX730WD printer then we will find it a compact model. It displays really small dimensions (only 39 x 34 x 14 cm) cons 44 x 46 x 15 cm for the PX730WD. The two main advantages of the XP-600 Premium are its connectivity and performance.
A simplified Wi-Fi connectivity

Besides the memory card reader and PictBridge USB port, which allows using the printer without turning on the PC, it has USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi n. Good plan, Epson Premium XP-600 has an auto-configure settings that automatically connecting to our site. We therefore had no problem to install and connect to our Wi-Fi network Internet access is essential to enjoy all the features of the printer. Including: sending documents to cloud services like Google Cloud Print, but also receiving and printing PC documents received in the form of mail, with e-mail Print. In addition, the Epson Premium XP-600 can also print from a mobile device running iOS (Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod touch) or Android (Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S2, S3 or Note, etc.)., Thanks to Epson eConnect functionality and technology support Apple AirPrint.

A multifunction works well and quickly

Regarding performance, the Epson Premium XP-600 is doing well, in the test results it obtained rate of 13.3 ppm black draft mode and 10.1 ppm in normal mode (6.8 ppm in color). Values not very different from those announced by the manufacturer: 12 ppm black and 8 ppm color (ISO IEC24734). These results are comparable to a Canon Pixma MG5350 or HP PhotoSmart 6510.

Printing a photo 10 x 15 cm is, however, longer advertised: it must rather 53 s and 20 s for each non-print. The quality is the rendezvous. With a new ink dyes, colors are vibrant, the excellent contrast and precision indisputable. For black text, it is a pigment ink that is used because it provides a better quality black (denser).

No complaints regarding scans and copies. The scanner does not lack precision and acuity: the colors are well respected and well received details. Epson Premium XP-600 takes 13 seconds to scan at 300 dpi A4 monochrome and 41 s for the same operation in color and 600 dpi. A simple A4 copy takes only 12 s and 21 s in monochrome color. Another good point: the scanner is particularly quiet.
Not very economical to use

Epson Premium XP-600

The Epson Premium XP-600 printer has other advantages, such as its ability to print double-sided automatically, which is always handy to avoid wasting paper. In addition, the tray is internal, which protects the dust sheets. But it can only hold up to 100 sheets.

Finally, the Epson Premium XP-600 Wi-Fi printer uses five separate ink cartridges to minimize the cost of printing (it does not replace the ink out). The concern is that even with the cartridges sold at least 10 and 12 euros each (respectively for color and black text), the cost per page of around 6 cents in black and 19.5 cents in color. It is high! In fact, the general average price for a printer is around 4 cents for each page printed in black and white and 12 cents in color. Opt for high capacity cartridges (26XL) is expected to approach these values …

The verdict

In the end, the Wi-Fi connectivity allows the Epson Premium XP-600 print documents sent from any smartphone, tablet or computer. This multifunction also performs excellent impressions. Some points, however, are yet to improve, as the cost per page.
