In response to the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Fnac announces its first Android touch tablet decorated with Kobo applications and called as Kobo Arc tablet.
Promise kept. Announced in mid-November, the tablet Kobo Arc will be available in four versions, from 8 to 64 GB on Monday 19 November. Price of Kobo Arc 8 GB is 180 euros. Versions 16, 32 and 64 GB will, in turn, proposed at respectively 199, 249 and 299 euros. With this pricing policy, company is clearly trying to counter Amazon Kindle Fire with 8 GB 159 euros and Kindle Fire HD 16 GB to 199 euros.
A well-equipped touchpad affordable
Proposed 50 euros cheaper than the Nexus 7 and the same price as the Fire HD, Kobo Arc – capacity equal to (16 GB) – format 7 inches (17.8 cm diagonal) and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream sandwich). As Fire HD, it has a high-definition screen 1280 x 800 pixels and includes a dual processor core faster (1.5 GHz against 1.2 GHz) processor, but less powerful than the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core The Nexus 7. Relatively thin and lightweight (364 g to 1.15 cm thick), the Kobo Arc is compatible Kobo Wi-Fi n and an embedded 1.3 megapixel front camera shooting in 720p HD. Like any good Android tablet, it provides access to most Google services, especially to Play Store and its 600 downloadable applications, and Play Movies (movie rentals) or Play Books (selling books).
Kobo applications to better manage its content
Kobo has added the ability to organize content (reading, video, music, etc.) in Kobo Arc. Personalized way by highlighting the elements of its choice. While reading, we can sort by categories: books purchased, current book, newspapers, news sites, magazines, etc. Kobo Arc nonetheless embarks reader of e-books Kobo in a version adapted to the tactile world of Android (major eBook formats supported: ePub and PDF).
Soon available for preorder, the Kobo Arc 16GB will be sold around the 15th November at a price of 199 euros. An 8GB version will be priced at 180 euros (160 euros for members).
