The promise
LaCie launches new version of its slim external drive LaCie P9223 SLIM Porsche Design which is characterized by a housing ultrafine designed by Porsche Design. With a USB 3.0 interface, it features a 500 GB internal drive (about 100 euros) or 120 GB SSD (about 150 euros).
Reality
In Windows 7, LaCie P9223 SLIM Porsche Design get maximum speeds of 279 MB / s read and 175 MB / s write. With the pilot UASP integrated flows increase Windows 8 with 340 MB / s read and 180 MB / s write. But it is under Mac OS disk LaCie achieves the best score with 439 MB / s read and 188 MB / s write! In short, the speed increase is most noticeable when playing files.
