Logitech and Skype announced a camera for video calls via TV: Specs & Features

Logitech and Skype jointly announced the release of the device, called the Logitech TV Cam HD. This new product is an analog of a webcam, but is designed to connect to your TV and has initially support the functionality of Skype, which allows for video calls without a computer and additional software.

Logitech TV Cam HD Camera
Logitech TV Cam HD Camera is a specialized computing device. It contains the actual camera optics Carl Zeiss, a microphone, a built-in wireless Wi-Fi, Ethernet, network, and video output HDMI. Also available is a client preinstalled Skype. The camera and microphone are used to capture video and audio. The module Wi-Fi or Ethernet port can be used to connect to a LAN with access to the Internet. A HDMI port received from the companion video with sound is transferred to any compatible TV, which has the appropriate HDMI input. As a result, the user has no need to use for video calls or notebook computer. It also supports the ability to make calls to landlines and mobile phones. The package includes new remote control that allows the camera to give the appropriate commands and navigate.

It is expected that the camera Logitech TV Cam HD goes on sale in the U.S. and Europe in August and September 2012. The suggested retail price of new items is set at $ 200. As according to me, $ 200 for this camera is not a cheap price; in $ 200 you may get the smartphone in which you can easily do Skype calls, but in any case if you want to upgrade your TV to latest Skype TV then Logitech TV Cam HD can be adopted.
