Aakash 2 Tablet is the latest and advanced version of Aaskash tablet. It was launched by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on November 11, 2012 in New Delhi. The gadget was launched during the National Education Day. This gadget is the result of the efforts of IIT Bombay supported by the C-DAC. It is manufactured by Datawind in support for the goal of the government to give innovative gadgets affordable for students.

This new version of Aaskash 2 is a low cost tablet that is made affordable for students at Rs 1130. However, the initial cost of this gadget as supplied to the Indian government is Rs 2,263. Likewise, Datawind also manufactures commercial version of this tablet carrying a brand name of Ubislate 7Ci that costs Rs 3,500. This tablet is using Android Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system.

On the other hand, the government is giving a 50% discount not only for students but also for school facilities. If the government continues to give subsidies the price may reduce down to Rs 500-800. As of the now, the Aaskash 2 is the cheapest tablet available throughout the world. It has been introduced to different colleges in India.
