NEC L51W Projector Specs and Review
NEC L51W is a light and compact projector which at the same time is designed to look stylish. This mobile projector comes with all the features you might need while on the go, plus an input panel which is very comprehensive. The projector comes with an office viewer as well, which is very useful in case you want to do a presentation without a PC. Add to that the fact that the projector doesn’t consume much power and you get a model that will cost you less over the entire use period than other similar models. While designed to meet the needs of corporate and mobile users, they are just as good for personal use.
L51W has a weight of only 1.2 kg, which makes it an easy choice when you’re looking for a projector you can carry around with you. The light source is LED, so it will have a 20,000 hours lifetime. Compare the LED’s lifetime to that of an LCD or DLP model and you will notice that it’s four times longer.
One of the features I’ve liked here is the use of a lens cover which can slide. Dust is no longer a major problem when you’re not using the projector thanks to that cover. The startup of the projector up to the point where it can display video takes only 20 seconds. The shut-down procedure is done in less than 5 seconds, which is equally impressive.
One of the downsides of the L51W is that it doesn’t have an optical zoom. What that means is that in order to change the size of the screen you will have to move the projector, so the flexibility isn’t very good when it comes to placement.
While the NEC L51W is designed with the office in mind and the presentations which are made by business users, thanks to the quality of the black levels, the details and the gorgeous colors, it can be used for a session of gaming or movie watching as well.
One of the things I love about it is the media player which is built it, which allows you to play multimedia files directly and open document files from an SD or USB card.
