Samsung Galaxy Grand Specifications and Review: Great Design with Grand Specs, Not so Great Price
Samsung Galaxy Grand released a front page advert in major newspapers in India recently announcing its grand arrival.
This was while people were still guessing the release date of other phone – a116 Canvas HD from Micromax.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Specifications:
It’s a 5 inch Jelly Bean phone powered by dual core processor. It has a 8MP camera that can record videos in 1080p resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand is powered by 1.2GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM running Jelly Bean OS with TouchWiz UI.
The Galaxy Grand Box Contents:
Handset, USB to Micro USB cable, premium quality earphone, ear plug cover, a free flip cover, 2100 mAh battery, power adapter and user guide.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Review and Design:
Design is cimilar to other Galaxy models. It is 9.6mm thick and weighs 161 grams. The sides are silver colour. It is available in white and metallic blue.
On the top side there is the 3.5mm jack, on left the volume rockers, on the side right the power/ lock button and on the bottom side there is the mic and micro USB port.
8 Megapixel camera quality is very good and it can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30fps.
OS, Memory and Storage:
Grand runs on Jelly Bean OS version 4.1.2. It comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
Connectivity and Ports:
This is dual SIM handset with 3G support with built in Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB port and 3.5mm jack. USB tethering, Bluetooth tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot are supported.
The battery is of 2100 mAh capacity
At Rs. 21,500 it is 43% over Micromax A116 which is priced at Rs.15,000. Micromax infact has a quad processor as well. It is unclear whether A116 plays 1080p Video though.
On the other side, Samsung brings with it the tested and liked Galaxy series design with proven support.
