What benefits could SHARP IGZO technology offer?

The Japanese company Sharp in collaboration with Semiconductor Energy Laboratory has developed an innovative oxide semiconductors based on IGZO.  The new achievement in the IGZO technology will enable the construction of the touch screen displays for smartphones and tablet PCs with much higher light transmission.
It will all significantly lower power consumption than currently available on the market models. Which companies are / rumored to be using IGZO technology?According to DigiTimes, Apple is considering the possibility of using IGZO displays for its iPad, iPhone, and iPad mini products lined up for this year.

”The sources said Apple is in further discussions with Sharp over IGZO panel production capacity estimates for 2013 and is also inquiring about whether AU Optronics’ (AUO) L5C line could be used to produce the technology,” DigiTimes said.
One of the key aspects of IGZO technology is its lower power consumption. Most Apple products, like iPhone 5, iPad 3 and 4, require massive batteries to power the devise for 8 hours. So using IGZO could help Apple reduce the charging time and keeping the devices running for longer time.

Advantages of SHARP  IGZO Displays, Specs, Release date, Price

– High resolution for tablet PCs, laptops and Ultrabooks The pioneering IGZO display technology allows the construction of displays with extremely high pixel density at a low volume: So for example when using a 10 inch display a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels will be reached.
Apparently  SHARP IGZO is a similar technique as the OLED technology. Prices will be known only after commercial release. Keep tuned for more news on SHARP IGZO technology release date for displays.
