Nintendo has started this weekend the global launch of its new Wii U home console, opening its availability in the United States, after a countdown by the president of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime, in the Rockefeller Center in New York.

As, unfortunately, is becoming customary in major releases, the Wii U supplies are limited both in selling online through Amazon or large retail chains.

The Wii U will be available later this month in other countries like Europe and Japan as in the United States, the first thing you have to do is update your firmware, published by Nintendo in the last minute and it gives access to important features like Miiverse, eShop, Internet browser, Netflix or the Wii support opening the door to a lot of previous games.

The launch of Wii U arrives with 23 new games that Nintendo has promised to expand to 50 by March 2013.
