Archos Arnova FamilyPad with its 34 cm screen diagonal (13inches), the FamilyPad tab is particularly well suited to recreational use and more.
Archos Arnova FamilyPad is a tablet running Android 4.0 original (obviously without access to Google Store). Indeed, its purpose is, according to Archos, to be used in groups, e.g. family, it will provide a bigger display surface than other tablets, with a screen diagonal of 34 cm (13.3 inch capacitive 10 points), like a laptop.
FamilyPad
For a product to the family, there are few efforts in this direction. It will come with a few board games, a photo viewer with slideshow function and applications for social networks are pre- installed on the FamilyPad. It is far from certain Samsung tablets that include shortcuts (also called HUB) to applications for children, cooking apps, coloring, etc.
Rather cut for multimedia
The Archos Arnova FamilyPad could, however, be an interesting multimedia solution. However it is regrettable that the definition of the large display is limited to 1280 by 800 points, as the Google Nexus 7, the screen is almost twice as small (18 cm diagonal). We will see how this translates into the display quality, but it’s a safe bet that it will be modest.
Good point: on paper, this Archos Arnova FamilyPad tablet has a good compatibility with different formats of video files, photo and audio (. H264, MPEG4, .avi .MP4, MKV, .mov, .FLV, .MP3, OGG, Flac, JPEG, BMP, etc) Adding that its mini-HDMI video output (cable not included) allows you to connect the tablet to a TV very easily. We also hope Arnova did not neglect the importance of having a large battery of this type of product. In this case, the video autonomy would be as announced 10 hours. FamilyPad has Wi-Fi and includes a slot for MicroSD type memory cards to extend the low amount of internal memory (8 GB). Finally, two (toddlers) 2 megapixel sensors are present: one in front, to perform video conferencing and another on the back of the camera to take pictures.
Archos Arnova FamilyPad will be available in December for 299 euros, which is not very expensive for such a great tablet, if – of course – it gives satisfaction to use. You will have the answer to this question in the coming days.
Pros:
+The big screen
+The small price
Cons:
-Obviously no special optimization
-The low resolution of the screen
-The low storage capacity
