Facebook reaches 1,000 million users

Facebook has just officially announced that they have reached the 1,000 million active users. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and co-founder of the social network has publicly thanked the cooperation of employees and social network users to achieve an impressive figure in just six years.

“Since this morning, more than a billion people using Facebook. If you are reading this thank you for giving me and my team the honor of serving” explains Mark Zuckerberg in a statement. “Helping billion people connect is amazing and is what I’m most proud of my life. I am committed to working each day to make Facebook even better for you, and I hope that together we are able to connect to the rest of the world”.

The most popular social network in the world reached 955 million users in July and although it took somewhat longer than expected to reach 1,000 million, which is no doubt an impressive number that should be evaluated in the proper perspective: Facebook keeps a distance abysmal with their competition and has grown exponentially in recent years, although the growth curve tends to soften.
