LG Optimus True HD smartphone: Complete Review & Specs

Smartphone LG Optimus True HD is one of the inexpensive smartphone but now recently it has suffered from price drop and now we have brought you a review of this device which will guide you through it pros and cons.

LG Optimus True HD

If we talk about the box of this device, the package also includes a smartphone memory card format MicroSD 16 GB Class 6.

Design of LG Optimus True HD will be familiar to owners of the smartphone LG Optimus 2x. This is rounded at the edges of tempered glass, the same form of soft keys, the same “old” Android 2.3. The back side of the case is made in the traditional style units in 2012 – matte plastic with a distinctive pattern. Rim extending around the perimeter of the body is made of dark gray plastic. At the top of the front panel is the speaker, proximity sensors, lighting and HD-camera for video calls. Underneath set of IPS-display with a diagonal of 4.5” and a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. More below are three touch-sensitive keys, “Menu”, “Home” and “Back”. On the left side is the volume rocker, the right completely empty, as the lower part, where there was a place just under the Elementary microphone. At the top there is the power button / lock, covered with solid plastic plug MicroUSB-jack, second mic and 3.5mm headphone jack. On the back of the lens can see 8 megapixel camera with flash and the inscription 8 MP HD, the manufacturer’s logo and two slots for multimedia speaker.
The disadvantages are two features of ergonomics in LG Optimus True HD – MicroUSB-plug connector and location of a key lock, the first follows from the second. When you connect your smartphone to a PC or a charger, plug blocking access to the unlock button, and wake up the phone with the other keys is not possible. Whether unlock key on the right side panel would be much easier.

Interface and Software

LG Optimus True HD runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a set top interface Optimus UI 2.0. During the tests, we were able to upgrade the firmware twice, but did not wait for the Android 4.0, although the domestic market, as well as the USA and Canada, it is already available. If desired, the smartphone can be forced to upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but we recommend, to wait for the official firmware for the appropriate region.

Software features of LG Optimus True HD coincide with such models as the LG Optimus 2x, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus 3D, which is set in Android 2.3. According to reliable information, these three devices in the near future will be updated to Android 4.0, where in addition to upgrading the OS, adding such pieces as Quick Memo and Optimus UI 3.0 interface with all the features.

Platform

Of the entire model range, LG Optimus True HD is the only smartphone that runs on the basis of system-on-chip Qualcomm APQ8060 including a 1.5 GHz processor with dual-core Cortex-A9, GPU Adreno 220 , 1 GB RAM, and support networks LTE. The amount of memory available for installing applications is less than 2 GB, but comes bundled with a memory card of 16 GB.
Speed and precision drawing interface is sufficient for comfortable operation, although with the release of Android 4.0, these characteristics should be improved, including the work. With a battery capacity of 1830 mA / h, duration of work is far from desirable. Under load: surfing the web, watching videos, playing, you can count on three to four hours maximum. In the more benign conditions, this figure increases to days.
Display

At the beginning of this year, the market was having only three devices with HD-screen (Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Note, Sony Xperia S), but now their number overstepped the mark of two dozen. LG is always trying to use expensive devices IPS-matrix. No exception LG Optimus True HD. Screen size is 4.5″, a cross between acceptable 4.3″ to and 4.8” excessive. For someone this size seems ideal, to the same density of dots per inch corresponds to the notion of “retina”, that is, the notorious 326 ppi. The screen quality is really the mark, but its behaviour in the sun is not good, that is not due to the very high brightness, 8 to 230 cd / m ², the lack of reflective surfaces and the presence of the air gap between the display and touch panel.
Camera

The LG Optimus True HD smartphone has 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and the ability to record Full HD-video. Viewfinder interface is standard for LG, but the quality seemed a bit higher than the LG Optimus 2x and LG Optimus 4x HD. As we found out, the main camera module developed by Sony and has a size of 1/3.2″. The front camera is designed by LG Innotek, a size 1/6″, the maximum resolution of 1280×960 pixels with the ability to record 720p video.

Results

Smartphone LG Optimus True HD, also known as LG Nitro HD, and the successor to LG Optimus 2x. It appeared in late 2011, early 2012, it could count on the good sales in the event, if the price was as attractive as it is now. To promote sales: good display, camera, and integration platform. But all this did not happen, in fact, this model is not supported by the official representative of LG in the CIS countries, and therefore, service vendors are engaged exclusively. It is hoped that with the release of Android 4.0, problems will be solved, and the smartphone will take its place among the devices cost less than $360.
