How about a wireless and inkless photo printer for Smartphone?

Hammacher Schlemmer has a printer for Smartphone which allows your iPhone to connect wirelessly to the printer. You can also use Android-powered phone to wirelessly connect to the printer.

All you have to do is download a free app and you are ready to go.

Your Smartphone/iPhone transmits pictures over a home Wi-Fi network to the printer. This  allows you to print from anywhere in the home.

It prints 4″ x 6″ borderless photographs at 300 dpi resolution in up to 256 gradations and 16.7 million colors. What is interesting about  this printer for Smartphones from Hammacher Schlemmer  is that it does not need any ink cartridges. However, the downside (or if you call the technicall necessity) is that the pictures are printed on patented paper. Clearly the photo has to appear from somewhere and colours need to be filled from somewhere!

The paper is embedded with yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals and that does the trick of producing the photographs. The pictures are waterproof and resist fingerprints.

If your camera is PictBridge-enabled, you can also print directly. Hammacher Schlemmer printer for Smartphone comes with paper cartridge for 10 prints.

For wireless printing, you will need a wifi router though. The current wireless printer model does not run on battery (due to the function being power hungry). So you will need to carry your power cord along. If you are travelling abroad, don’t forget the universal socket.

It is compatible with all iPhone (including iPhone 5), iPad, and iPod Touch models running iOS 3 and up and Android-powered devices running OS 2 and up.

The size of this inkless printer for Smartphone is 7″ L x 6″ W x 4″ H. and weight is 3 lbs. So this should allow it to be carried with you while travelling (remember the wi-fi need mentioned above though). At the moment its priced $219.95

Remember that it is a wireless photo printer for Smartphone and do not compare that with big daddy’s of photo printing.
