Intel has started selling in Singapore the Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition, the new flagship of microprocessors of the firm and the most powerful processor.
Announced earlier this year, Intel deploys power with a Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition intended for demanding enthusiast market that values most powerful on the market, regardless of price.
The Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition is manufactured in 32-nanometer process and is a super-chip with a huge die of 435 square millimeters and 2,270 million transistors. It belongs to the series Sandy Bridge-E and used motherboards with socket LGA-2011.
It has 6 cores (actually has eight but two disabled) and 12 processing threads on hyperthreading, 256 KB of L2 cache per core, 15 MB cache and third level quad-channel integrated controller supporting memory up to 128 Gbytes.
Increasing operating frequency (3.5 GHz and 4 GHz basis by TurboBoost) is the most current version of the Core i7-3960X and like it has unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking techniques.
Its consumption also increases and is high for a TDP of 150 watts but it will not matter a fact that the machines where it is directed.
