What is a 4k Video resolution and where to see it?

What is 4k Video?

4K video resolution is not new. However, its not really catch up yet, as you would expect with some technologies which may not be game changers per se. 4k is a resolution standard for videos. The reason this video format is not very popular yet is because of lack of content in 4k.

What are advantages of 4k Video?

The main advantage as you would expect, is off course, higher image quality even compared to HD video. Because of this technological advancement, you naturally get a detailed picture, fast action will look better you and you get larger visibility of projection surface.

It has 4000 apx pixels horizontal resolution, thus earning its name. The currently popular HD standards 1080p and 720p resolutions are about vertical resolutions. The 4k video standard has the ability to give four times higher image definition than 1080p HD video.

4k video can not have a change in horizontal resolution, so changes in aspect ratio are achieved through the vertical resolution. e.g. 4096×2304 is a frame size with aspect ratio 16:9 and 4096×3072 is the frame size with aspect ration of 4:3. Note that the horizontal resoultion has not changed, its the vertical that is. See the digital video resolutions comparison in the image below:
