Microsoft Store’s tablet page shows that Windows tablets are currently available at 10 inches. If the leaked news item is correct, it is expected to change with the launch of 8 inch device from Acer.
A French site posted lots of images of what it claims is a future Acer Iconia W3 8-inch tablet. (update: MiniMachines.net has removed the images claiming Acer has asked it to remove)
If that is correct, that will be a good news Windows 8 fans since it means a top vendor like Acer is parterning with Microsoft in the tablet market. Microsoft is reportedly working on Windows 8.1 which will optimize the Windows 8 experience on 8 inch devices.
As per report, this tab does not use the limited RT version of Windows 8 but a full-blown Windows compatibility.

Acer’s tablet specs are expected to be:
Windows 8 with 8-inch display
Intel “Clover Trail” Atom Z2760 dual-core processor
1,280×800 IPS screen

Some of the reports out of Asia claim Microsoft is offering Windows 8 licensing fee discounts to device makers for smaller machines.
The image also indicates accessories like a tiny keyboard dock and a cover that doubles as a kickstand. The smaller size would mean convenient use by even one hand unlike some of the tab competitors.
