ASUS has introduced an updated version of the innovative hybrid device ASUS PadFone 2. This PadFone 2 is equipped with quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor running at 1.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM and 64 GB of memory for the data. Super IPS + display size of 4.7″ and a resolution of 1280×720 (pixel density 312 PPI) which is manufactured by Sharp IGZO technology and protected by glass Corning Fit Glass.
ASUS PadFone 2 is equipped with 13 megapixel camera on, which allows up to 100 shots in a row at 6 frames / s and record video with a resolution of 720p at 60 frames / s. Front camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels.
The smartphone ASUS PadFone 2 will come with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but in the near future should see an update to the Jelly Bean.
With dimensions of 138 x 68 x 9 mm and a weight of 135 g, ASUS PadFone 2 is larger than its predecessor due to the increased screen. Removable battery has a capacity of 2140 mAh. The device will be available in two colors – black and white.
The system of fixing a smartphone into the dock PadFone Station – now it is vertical. Also there is no cover for smartphone that caused some criticism. IPS-display is present in PadFone Station which has a size of 10.1-inches and 1,280 x 800 pixels. Built-in battery in the new version is reduced by reducing the thickness of the device, and has a capacity of 5000 mAh vs 6600 mAh at first PadFone. Weight of th3 dock is 514 g without a smartphone and a 649 g docked in the smartphone, which is 200 grams less (!) than the previous model.
Sales of ASUS PadFone 2 will start in Taiwan next week. Until the end of December it will be ready in some other countries. Expected prices of this hybrid smartphone-tablet are 899 euros for the version with 64 GB of memory and 799 euros for 32 GB model. The bundle – itself a smartphone and a docking station for it.
