Barnes & Noble NOOK HD and NOOK HD +: Specs & Feature

After Amazon updated its line of tablets and the main competitor of the company in the book business – Barnes & Noble also introduced two new devices: NOOK HD and NOOK HD +.

Barnes & Noble NOOK HD

NOOK HD can rightly be considered the lightest 7-inch tablet with the highest quality display of a device of this class. With dimensions of 194.4 x 127.1 x 11 mm, of course, larger than the record- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 with its thickness of 7.9 mm, but the lighter (315 g vs. 335 g). In addition the display resolution of this Barnes & Noble Nook HD tablet is 1440×900 pixels (243 ppi). It is powered by a new technology, when the protective glass and the matrix are almost a unit without the air gap between them. This allows anti-reflective effect and very wide viewing angles. It is not known what type of matrix is used, but if you remember the large viewing angles, this is clearly IPS, as in the other tablet of the company.

Barnes & Noble NOOK HD

The Barnes & Noble Nook HD device is available with 8 or 16 GB of memory on board in white and graphite (Smoke) color (user available 5 and 13 GB, respectively). If necessary, the amount of disk space can be increased by using a microSD card up to 32GB. Also, there is a way HDMI, micro-USB port for charging and PC connection and a 3.5-mm jack for headphones.
Barnes & Noble not to focus on the CPU and revealed only that the battery life of tablet can run for up to 10.5 hours of reading and 9 hours of video playback. The cost of new items, depending on the amount of built-in memory, is $ 199 or $ 229. Today, the company started taking pre-orders for the device, will be released on November 1 this year.

Barnes & Noble NOOK HD

The other announced model is Barnes & Noble NOOK HD + – in larger 9-inch screen with a resolution 1920 x 1280 pixels (256 ppi) and the amount of built-in memory of 16 or 32 GB. Technology for the production of the display using the same (lamination), which means it will less glare, has a higher contrast ratio and very wide viewing angles.

At the core level Barnes & Noble NOOK HD is featuring SoC OMAP4470 with two processing cores of frequency 1.5 GHz. The rest of the unit is identical to the low-end model, except that the larger (240.3 x 162.8 x 11.4 mm, 515 g), Card slot microSD, HDMI and micro-USB port are also present in the NOOK HD tablet.
