More powerful, more durable and less expensive than its predecessor, the Epson EH-TW550 promises a bright 3D image, but half HD.
The Epson EH-TW550 is successor to Epson EH-TW450 and even better for lesser price. Design, dimensions and weight remain the same, everything has been improved. Including brightness, passing 3000 ANSI lumens and native contrast ratio, which climb to 5000:1. Another interesting point: the E-Torl lamp 200 watt is now able to hold 4,000 hours in normal operation and up to 5000 hours in Eco mode activated. A mode that has the advantage of reducing the noise of the fan which then passes below 30 dB. In “standard”, it is rather in the vicinity of 37 dB. We’ll have to turn up the volume to forget about it.

Epson EH-TW550 is indeed a model tri-LCD (Epson expensive technology) displaying a definition of 1280 points 720. For video games and a few sessions on a home theater screen not exceeding 2.40 meters wide, it is enough. Zoom (x1, 2) and are manual focus, and there obviously no lens shift. Epson however integrated a function of automatic keystone correction to obtain an image 16/9 well framed whatever installation conditions. As for connectivity, it includes an HDMI input, two USB ports (type A and B), a VGA input and a composite input. Also note the presence of a speaker rating 2 watts.
3D glasses optional, but essential
The Epson EH-TW550 is also, 3D compatible. Of course, active glasses are sold as a supplement, but they seem indispensable. Especially since several presets are available, including a mode for the video game and two color modes (Dynamic 3D Cinema 3D) for 3D sessions. Finally, here’s a little HD Ready projector good composition. It is lightweight, mobile, durable, light and contrast, can adapt video games as home theater and television sources.
