HTC seems to like the number one. No wonder its new Android device is called First. It has close integration with Facebook compared to other smartphones.
This device is a collaboration between HTC and Facebook which has been long coming. It is a skinned Android smartphone that has deep social media integration upon the OS. HTC First will be the device along with future devices that will have the Facebook Home interface.
HTC First specs are: 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 5MP rear camera and 1.6MP front-facing cam, Android 4.1 and a 4.3-inch 720p display. It will be available in four colors: red, turquoise, white and black.
While the HTC First is being launched on AT&T, this built-for-Facebook device will eventually arrive in Europe too, on Orange and the UK’s EE network. The pricing and release dates in Europe and UK are not available yet.
You should be able to download the Facebook Home skin through Google Play pretty soon to be able to get the “feel” of things in store.
This world’s first Home-optimized device was announced by HTC’s Peter Chou and AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega. HTC claimed that it will be a “unique experience.”
It will be available on April 12th in the US on AT&T for just $99.99 but it can be pre-ordered starting now.
