Intel Atom Z2760, the SoC for tablets with Windows 8: Specs & Features

Intel has unveiled the new Atom Z2760 processor included in the platform Clover Trail and basis of next generation electronic tablets and hybrid devices under Windows 8.

Clover Trail is the platform on which Intel puts its hopes of stopping ARM designs in the mobility market.

The Atom Z2760 is the processor for tablet computers, design manufactured in 32 nanometer processes with dual-core and four native processing threads, capable of operating at frequencies up to 1.8 GHz.

Atom Z2760 includes graphics chip SGX545 Imagination with 533 MHz frequency with hardware acceleration for 1080p resolutions. It also includes the memory controller. This SoC includes technologies such as Hyper-Threading Technology and Intel Platform Trust Secure Boot and has ability to easily integrate communications technologies such as Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G/LTE and NFC.

The Atom Z2760 will be used in manufacturing tablets with large screens weighing 680 grams and thickness of 8.5 mm for a ten hour autonomy HD video playback, according to Intel’s announcement.

Acer, Asustek Computer, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, LG Electronics, Samsung and ZTE are manufacturers as Intel confirmed it would put on the market in late October and hybrid tablets with this Atom Z2760.
