Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 All-in-One PC: Review & Specs

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 All-in-One PC is priced at 1699 euros it is offering a nice finishing touch screen tilt and good equipment. However, to handle Windows 7 on the fingertips on such a large screen size is not practical.

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720

Lenovo makes a neat product, well equipped but XXL screen does not really lend itself to use only touch.

The promise

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 All-in-One PC offers a good quality finish, and very complete equipment, especially a 27-inch touch screen tilt to horizontal. Note that Lenovo offers the migration to the new version of Windows (see details on the manufacturer’s website).

Reality

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720

Relatively thin (2.2 cm thicker), part of the PC screen of this All-in-One PC is made entirely of brushed aluminium. Being equipped with a large touch screen 27-inch is mounted on an articulated foot. Thus, the screen can be tilted more or less, to be perfectly positioned horizontally. Especially since the screen is quite responsive and accurate. To enjoy right out of the box, Lenovo pre-installed games (Angy Birds) and several programs optimized for touch as Idea Touch. This application organizes your music, photos, videos, etc.., And allows you to interact easily with them.
After a few hours of use, the conclusion is clear. The diagonal of the screen is too large for an optimal and comfortable touch. And if – Windows 7 – is already tiring with Windows 8 it may be even worse. Arm movements should be loose and require more effort than the keyboard-supplied wireless mouse, even after fine-tune the height and angle of the slab.

Good multimedia equipment

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720

Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 screen displays a high definition (1920 by 1080 pixels). It provides a very good contrast ratio (4073:1). However, the color fidelity and brightness are moderate (only 235 cd/m2). Good point, the viewing angles of the panel are large enough to enjoy a movie more without the slightest embarrassment. Blu-ray and HD tuner, comes with a remote control, you can enjoy your movies and other favorite TV programs from the couch.

The power of a good laptop

The hardware configuration of Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 is suitable for office, surfing on the Internet or in video encoding. Unlike an all-in-one traditional, all components are located behind the display, but in the bottom of the machine. For lack of space, Lenovo has been forced to use components laptops. All connectors are evenly distributed (USB 2, 3, HDMI input and output, stereo, etc.). Finally, note that the power supply is not included. Facing the Dell XPS One 27 Touch, the IdeaCentre A720 displays a significantly lower level of performance. However, the Intel Core i7 processor (laptop) is efficient, abundant memory and large hard drive – a bit slow – 1 TB welcomes with open arms all your data. Finally, when you watch a movie or surf the internet, the fan remains silent (33, 1 dB) and the machine Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 consumes only about thirty watts. When you use the power of the configuration to encode a movie or play a game, the volume can reach 45 dB (it becomes quite noisy) and the meter shows 168 watts.

The verdict
Ultimately, the Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 offers a nice finish, good equipment and a screen with tilt and height can be adjusted according to your needs. The quality of the latter is not quite level. In addition, as the use of touch is not practical on a large screen. This was all regarding Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 All-in-One PC which is sold for 1699 euros.
