The company Marvell announced a WLAN (wireless local area network) system-on-a-chip Marvell Avastar 88W8864, which allows the high-speed wireless connection based on the standard Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Note that this new product is the industry’s first solution for 802.11ac 4×4. It will improve the capacity of enterprise and public access points.
System-on-a-chip Marvell Avastar 88W8864 involves the use of four antennas to receive data, and four antennas to transmit information. This provides the possibility of simultaneous transmission and reception of data on multiple channels. Moreover, the bandwidth of each channel can be up to 80 MHz. It also offers maximum data transfer rate of up to 1.3 Gb / s. The device supports technology Transmit Beamforming, LDPC (Low Density Parity Check), features Marvell Spectrum Management.
It is expected that the first commercial devices based on system-on-a-chip Marvell Avastar 88W8864 to hit the market by mid-2013.
