The two new Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 and GTX 650 mid-range graphics chip are announced. Which are immediately available after the annoucement, they are offered respectively to 229 and 119 euros price.
The two new graphics cards are midrange Nvidia, are intended for PC users who do not want to ruin it for play.
After the Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti, it was the turn of the GeForce GTX 660 and GTX 650 Nvidia integrated lines. These two new graphics cards should be marketed to less than 230 euros. It is true that, if the new Nvidia Kepler architecture is very powerful, it remains relatively affordable compared to AMD Radeon cards of last generation. Moreover, during the summer, AMD has not denied decrease even more the price of its chips to make a clear advantage over the midrange and dig a little deeper the gap with its competitor ever. However, according to the latter, the GeForce GTX 660 would be 20-60% more powerful that a Radeon HD 7850 and up to 80% faster that a GeForce GTX 560. A smart performance:
The GeForce GTX 660 embeds a GK106 chip, that is to say, a new version of the GK104 found in the GeForce GTX 680, GTX 670 and GTX 660 Ti. This version embeds 960 CUDA cores clocked at 980 MHz and the frequency may, under certain conditions, be dynamically boosted to 1033 MHz (GPU Boost technology introduced with the GeForce GTX 680). Much like the GeForce GTX 660 Ti, the GTX 660 has 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, clocked at 3004 MHz, and a memory bus of 192 bits. At the rear, there are four video outputs (two DVI, one HDMI and one DisplayPort).
Lower consumption
Highlight of the GeForce GTX 660 and GTX 650 is power consumption. Instead of the two PCI-E 6 pin required by the GTX 660 Ti, the new citizen of the GeForce does require one, its consumption should not exceed 140 watts. The side of the fan, this card features a fairly traditional device, consisting of a sarcophagus and a plastic fan. However, it is highly likely that brands will not retain this architecture. They will prefer their own system, with several fans and a radiator apparent. The size of the card looks pretty close to the GTX 660 Ti in (19 cm), what is a small place in PC casings office closer.
The GeForce GTX 650 is youngest
Second GeForce launched, the GeForce GTX 650, which is placed in front of the Radeon HD 7750. It has 384 CUDA cores; clocked at 1058 MHz (the latter do not have the GPU Boost technology!). The card has also 1 GB of GDDR5 memory and 128-bit bus. According to Nvidia, the GTX 650 consumes less electricity than half GTX 450 (announced 64 watts) and be able to provide almost 25% of extra power. Check! Available immediately, the two Nvidia graphics cards are available at 229 euros (GTX 660) and 119 euros (GTX 650).
