Samsung has announced a new line of Samsung SSD 840 Series, focused on the use in the performance of computer systems, personal use.

As part of the line Samsung SSD 840 Series devices are available, made in the form factor of 2.5 inches and a controller based on MDX. The market will do two versions of drives. SSD 840 Series standard models are designed for use in general purpose computers. At the same time, the device Samsung SSD 840 Series Pro is more productive decisions and focus on the use of computer enthusiasts and gamers. Detailed specifications of new products are not announced. We only know that drives 840 PRO provides the number of IO operations in the implementation of random read at 100 thousand, and the implementation of random write operations – 90 thousand. In addition, the computer system 840 PRO with storage in the test PC Mark 7 Score demonstrated three -fold performance gain compared with the same system, but using a standard hard disk. To connect to the system interface is used SATA3 (data transfer rate up to 6 Gb / s).

It is expected that the new Samsung SSD 840 Series will be available in mid-October of this year, moreover the level of their recommended retail price has not been disclosed.
