The optical division of Sony has the best for the manufacturers of smartphones and tablets, so, so well known devices such as iPhone 4S or the Samsung Galaxy S III have Sony technology in their cameras. Therefore, any movement of the Japanese firm is key to predicting the evolution of mobile technology in the coming months. Today, officially announced the development of new sensor Sony Exmor RS.
The Sony Exmor RS will have a stacked structure, which places the section of the pixels on the chip in charge of processing the signal, apart from the usual media substrate. The result is a more compact sensor that will provide better image quality, while providing manufacturers the ability to make devices even smaller and thinner.
We’ll have to wait until IFA 2012 for more details and probably see the first signs of what is capable of doing the Sony Exmor RS sensor, we know that the Japanese will present eight thirteen sensors megapixels. In addition, this technology will complement a new target S ony f/2.2, a system of autofocus much improved and the possibility of video recording HDR.
Currently the company’s engineers are working to improve the behaviour of the sensor Sony Exmor RS and the quality of the images obtained. It seems that as of October could see the first products equipped with Sony Exmor RS.
