400,000 of Wii U sold this first week

It is only the beginning of the race, but it seems that Nintendo’s new console is being a bestseller in the United States. It was confirmed by the company itself, showing optimistic figures: 400,000 Wii U sold in the first week, running almost all the stock they had prepared until Christmas.

In fact, total Nintendo this past week totaled 1.2 million consoles sold: 400,000 Wii U, 300,000 Wii, 275,000 Nintendo DS and 250,000 Nintendo 3DS. It is true that coincided with Black Friday, the quintessential American sales, but it is also true that the economic situation remains tense, even in the American country.

Curiously, Wii sold 600,000 units in its first week on the market in 2006. But Nintendo are very satisfied: “Wii U is essentially retailed and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock,”said Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America. “Retailers are doing their best to get to replace the product in stores. But as soon as it arrives, is exhausted.”

Wii U came to the U.S. market on November 18, and is expected to do the same in other countries including European countries this Friday .
