The first impression with the new Samsung Galaxy Camera was that Samsung has tried to build DSLR camera and a smartphone into one device. Well, that is not true. The Samsung Galaxy Camera is a high end camera, not exactly matching the performance of the DSLRs available in the market, and it is not a calling device. The Samsung Galaxy Camera is a 16 megapixel point-shoot-share digital camera that offers all the capabilities of a high-end smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera EK-GC100 is a Full HD 1080p camera with 720p video recording at 30 fps. It has an impressive 21x optical zoom to capture distant picture with finest quality. The 3G/4G and WiFi connectivity let you shoot and share the pictures with your friends and family. The touchscreen 4.8-inch display is one the biggest screen available in compact cameras. The 4.8 inch rear screen is the reason the camera looks very big, though the camera fits well in the hand. The processing is backed by a Quad Core CPU running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Samsung Galaxy Camera is powered by Android capable of running many of the application at the same time.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera supports all the features that a high end Andriod device would support. While you wait for a sunset or sunrise shot, you can play games or access various apps available on the camera. Accessing Facebook, Twitter, Kindle and Google Maps application is just too easy.
The camera has an ability to shoot in Auto, Smart or Expert Mode. The all time GPS connectivity of the camera can help you share the photos and images instantly. You would need to subscribe to monthly data plan though for sharing. The slow motion video recording feature of the camera records videos at impressive 120 fps. The same gives an impressive 4x slow motion effect when played at 30 fps. The camera has an option of filter selection for video recording. The Photo Wizard apps on the Samsung Galaxy Camera is provided for image editing whereas the Video Editor lets you delete and rearrange the videos and add background music to it. Another favorite apps available is the Instagram apps. For photo and image sharing Samsung had added Share Shot and Buddy Photo Share apps to the camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera Auto-focus (AF) speed is good in bright light but struggle in low light and with fast-moving subjects. The lens is good for close up shots to capture detail with a small depth of field. The sound quality is decent as compared to other compact cameras.
